Guest Bathroom

Wanted to do a post about our guest bath. This was actually a project we did a while back. Painted ghost stripes on the back wall and replaced counter with a white stone. The sink and faucet are also new updates. Went with Restoration Hardware on towel fixtures.

Kevin laid the tile flooring. He does such nice work! We ordered it from Overstock.com. Love how it turned out!

This is a hard room to photograph. Here is the shower/tub.

Again trying to add that farmhouse style where we can. The little wood stool makes a nice place for towels or candles.

We are running out of projects on this place so you know what that means :)  ...

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Country Chic Paint/ Project

I got this paint yesterday and wanted to try it on something so I found a old framed print that I have had for a long time. The paint is Country Chic Paint in the color Elegance.

It is a really pretty soft blue color. I put some antiquing wax over it to give it a aged look.

I love this color and I will be using it on a bigger project. Had to break open the can today and try it!

This is the after with the antiquing wax. Hope you all are enjoying your day and thanks for stopping by.

Organize

I like to de- clutter this time of year. Here are some pieces that help me keep the place tidied up and organized!

I love this desk that my Dad refinished and gave to me about 18 years ago. It was painted so you can imagine the time it took to strip and refinish. I leave it open so it makes me want to keep it organized.

Here is a handy piece that I got from Wisteria a couple of years ago. I stash all my project ideas and paint sample cards in it.

This little bench I found at a yard sale about 8 years ago just got a fresh coat of paint and I added a couple of baskets for storage. It also opens up to put extra linens in.

Also in the guest room where the little bench is I like to keep a basket full of my favorite magazines. It sits on top of a little table I found at a tag sale about 9 years ago. I just left the table with the original paint except for the drawer. Loved the character of it!

The Rooster pic above it got a coat of Miss Mustard Seed Paint and antiquing wax , found it this summer at a tag sale.

Just a few ways I stay organized and get too add a little of my style to our home. Thanks for stopping by!

Master Bath Update

We recently did a Master bathroom remodel. Kevin laid the tile flooring and we put in a new vanity. It really brightened up the space. It had linoleum flooring before and the vanity was Oak that had been painted and had seen its better days. Painted a accent wall for color and also painted the mirror that Kevin framed. New lighting and bath fixtures completed the room. We love how it turned out.

Flooring:

The walk in closet got a mini makeover also. We put a removable wallpaper on the far wall and added a painters drop cloth for a drape hung by a rod mounted to the ceiling.

You can change the look of a space with just a few updates. We enjoy these kind of projects and the hard work is always a great pay off .

Pieces that work for function and style

Our house is an open concept home so we have to be careful about furniture choices. I like to collect junk ( a lot of it ) ha! So we have to get kind of creative with placement. We use this trunk for blankets and extra pillows and also as a end table.

In our master bedroom we use this old buffet that I found at a yard sale for clothes storage. I also really liked how it looked below the wall mounted tv. This piece was covered in contact paper and not very attractive . Stripped the paper off ,  painted and aged with a stain . It has taken on a few dings here and there but we love it

This piece has three drawers to it and we store electronics and remotes in it. It has been painted just about every color you can imagine. The current color is  the color Elephant in the Waverly chalk paint brand ( on the drawers) and the base I can't remember ha!

Just some simple solutions for extra storage, thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Sprucing up the Guest Rooms

Did a little sprucing up on the Guest Rooms recently. We are always adding and moving things around. We put this trundle bed in the smaller of rooms about this time of year. Usually used as a office. We just shift things around when we need to pull the bottom bed out.

We had a old piece of wood laying around and used in this room for a headboard. Added some character to the space . Trying to go with more of  the farmhouse style . Things don't really stay in one place very long around here ha!

Hope you all enjoy your day!

Falling for Home Decor

I have been adding a few things to my fall decor. Love this time of year ! I ran across this old dry erase board I had and painted it in the Waverly chalk paint color Plaster this is the Before:

After:

I found the cute table runner paper from Finding home farms .com . It comes in a 50 ft. roll and can be used for wrapping paper also.

The pumpkins are from Pottery Barn and the little rooster got a fresh coat of paint a few weeks back.
I love collecting old ironstone , find most of the pieces at yard sales. The milk pitcher is from TJ Max and the rest of the stuff I had from other projects .
I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday

DIY Farmhouse Kitchen Island Add-Ons

Kevin is always up for a new project. He usually has a pile of old lumber, so a few weeks back he plained and built some wooden X structures for the ends of our kitchen island.

We had seen a picture in Country Living magazine that inspired us. Below is the finished product with the add ons.

I haven't decided if I want to paint the whole island or leave it as is but I love they way they turned out and add a little farmhouse feel.

Quick Fixes

Did some restyling around the house and swapped out some things for fall. I made this cute little sign out of some scrap lumber and some stencils from Walmart. I love The Caldrea Essentual Collection (Found at Target) especially the scent Herbs of Provence.

Added some cute throw pillows from Target and H&M . Fresh flowers always brighten up any room. Throw on a cozy blanket for those chilly mornings ahead.

For a cute little makeover I like to change out material often . I recently redecorated our bedroom and I'm trying to go with a softer color scheme . Went from a fleuer-de-lis pattern to a clean crisp white. New upholstery always changes the mood in the room. This little seat is actually a old sewing bench that opens up for storage.
Those  are some quick fixes for sprucing up your rooms , doesn't take much to do a quick little revamp. Hope you all have a great fall

Sunday Junkin'

When the Scheib girls get together, you can typically find us working on some type of project. We spent our Labor Day Sunday junkin' (with Starbucks in hand) and landed a project for each of us for the day. Unfortunately, for dad, he usually ends up getting roped in and working on more than he bargained for. Before and after pictures below!
